WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris will attend a summit on artificial intelligence in the United Kingdom next week, shortly after President Joe Biden issues a highly anticipated executive order on an emerging technology that has generated excitement and fear.
Harris will deliver a speech outlining the Democratic administration’s approach to artificial intelligence on Nov. 1 before attending a summit on the topic the next day.
U.S. and European officials have spoken of working with “like-minded countries” to draw up guardrails for artificial intelligence.
“There can be no serious strategy for AI without at least trying to engage all of the world’s leading AI powers,” he said.
“That might not have been the easy thing to do, but it was the right thing to do.” ___Chan reported from London.
